Jinan International Communication Center has specially launched the interview series City of Springs | Visionaries’ Echo. In its debut episode, we invited internationally acclaimed photography master Riccardo Busi, President of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).

As a leading figure in the world of photography, Mr. Busi has faced challenges similar to those encountered by many in the field. Through continuous learning, exploration, and practice, he overcame creative bottlenecks and consistently refined his photography skills. He believes that photographers should maintain their passion and dedication to the art, viewing challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles. He encourages trying new techniques and approaches, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and support from peers in creating outstanding works.
With the advancement of technology, artificial intelligence (AI) is being widely applied in various fields, including photography. AI tools like ChatGPT and Sora have had a significant impact on the art form. For example, a winning entry in the Sony World Photography Awards was reportedly a composite image created with AI, rather than traditional photography techniques. In response, Mr. Busi stated: “We are not opposed to artificial intelligence, as we already use it in cameras and software. However, we must protect ourselves and our passion for photography. Particularly in documentary photography and competitions, it is essential to maintain clear principles.”

Mr. Busi also holds a deep interest and affection for the countries along the Belt and Road Initiative. In his personal photography exhibitions, he has carefully selected and showcased numerous stunning works from these regions, vividly documenting their customs and landscapes through the language of the lens. Moreover, he has actively built extensive and meaningful connections with these nations, serving as a bridge for cultural exchange between China and the world.
The historic and culturally rich Silk Road, like a magnet, has drawn Mr. Busi to explore more of its mysterious lands. He aspires to use his camera to capture the brilliant moments hidden in the sands of history and preserve the beauty of cross-cultural exchanges that transcend time and space.
