The exhibition showcased numerous photographs of Jinan’s natural springs and breathtaking landscapes, offering the Suwon audience an immersive experience of Jinan’s unique charm as the “City of Springs.”
After viewing the exhibition, Kwon Ki-sik, President of the Korea-China Cities Friendship Association, remarked, “As a Korean visitor, I am honored to attend this exhibition. It has given me a profound appreciation of Jinan’s distinctive appeal as the ‘City of Springs’ and deepened my understanding of China’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.”
Oh Hyun-gyu, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Music Association and Paldal Cultural Center in Suwon, stated, “Although Korea is home to famous hot springs and mountain streams, Jinan’s spring culture has a unique charm. These springs are not just symbols of the city but are deeply intertwined with its history and culture. From the ‘Washing Jade Spring’ named by Song Dynasty poet Li Qingzhao to Emperor Qianlong’s praise of Jinan’s ‘Number One Spring under Heaven,’ these waters have carried the sentiments of scholars and poets for centuries. This exhibition has helped me realize that the beauty of Chinese landscapes is not just about natural scenery but also a continuation of humanistic spirit.”
A Suwon visitor noted that the exhibition revealed how Jinan’s springs are more than just scenic wonders—they are integral to the daily lives of local residents. “Some of the photographs depict people drawing water and playing by the springs, illustrating a touching harmony between humans and nature.”
Attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony were Kwon Ki-sik, President of the Korea-China Cities Friendship Association; Jeon Seok-hoon and Im Chang-hui, members of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council; Kim Yang-tae, President of the Suwon Branch of the Korea-China Cities Friendship Association; Cho Ye-ling, President of the Korea-China Exchange Center; Oh Hyun-gyu, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Music Association and Paldal Cultural Center; and Song Yun, Chairman of WOORI Construction Group. Additionally, nearly ten media outlets from Gyeonggi Province and Suwon covered the event.
